‘Drastic drop’ in reclaiming rates of lost dogs
Manchester Dogs’ Home is reporting a drastic drop in the number of lost dogs being reclaimed by their owners. The home says that, since Christmas 2013, the reclaim rate has been 23 per cent, whereas annual rates have traditionally been 33 per cent or more. ‘We're assuming that the reason for the 10 per cent drop is the recession, and people struggling to afford the upkeep of their dogs,’ said Lisa Graham, the home's manager.
