Vet acted in dog's best interests, disciplinary committee finds

THE RCVS Disciplinary Committee has dismissed a case against a Southampton-based veterinary surgeon, finding him not guilty of professional misconduct and confirming that at all times he acted in the best interests of a dog under his care.

At a hearing on December 6, 2013, Edward Gillams faced a charge that, while in practice at Vets Now in Southampton, he had discharged a dog when he knew or ought to have known that it was in no fit state to be discharged and, at the same time, had failed to provide adequate advice and information to the dog's owners.
