Standards launched to help regulate pet advertising online

A SET of minimum standards for UK websites that offer pets for sale was launched this week by the Pet Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG), with the backing of Defra.

The PAAG is made up of representatives of a number of charities and organisations with an interest in animal welfare, including the BVA. It is hoped that the voluntary minimum standards will help improve the welfare of pets and protect members of the public from the risk of ending up with sick, dangerous or illegal animals.
