Charity calls for a rabbit welfare code of practice
An animal rescue charity is gathering signatures on an e-petition at http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/49086 calling on the Government to introduce a code of practice for the welfare of domestic rabbits. Camp Nibble, which is based in west Yorkshire, says that, despite opening its doors to many types of small animal, rabbits consistently make up 80 per cent of its residents. It says that there is an obvious gap between the general public's traditional view of pet rabbit keeping and the modern day view held by welfare organisations and the rabbit welfare community.

The association says it was prompted to make the six-minute video to counteract the ‘huge body of disinformation in the public domain’ and to inform politicians, scientists, farmers and the general public of the effect the disease has on badgers. The video can be viewed at www.vet-wildlifemanagement.org.uk
