The horsemeat crisis threw BEVA into the media spotlight earlier this year, the association's outgoing president, Keith Chandler, told delegates at the opening of this year's BEVA congress. The association had been questioned for several weeks by the media and, he said, it was a sign of the strength of the team at BEVA and the BVA that the spotlight did not shine too harshly on the profession.
