IN tribute to Michael Callow (VR, September 14, 2013, vol 173, p 251) Alan Boyd Macphee writes, with contributions from Paul Verney and Alex Wilson: I would like to express my sadness at the passing of Mick Callow. I was privileged to work in the South Molton practice in north Devon with Mick for seven years.

From an early age Mick was interested in natural history and started a lifelong hobby of beekeeping while still at school. On one notable occasion he transported a colony of bees from his home in West Sussex to the farm he was working on in Cornwall on the back of his motorbike!
