New research centre for poultry health

A NATIONAL centre for poultry health and welfare has opened at the University of Edinburgh's Easter Bush campus to provide a resource for both UK and international researchers studying chicken health and disease. The National Avian Research Facility (NARF) was officially opened on September 9 by David Willetts, minister for universities and science.

With the poultry industry employing some 35,000 people, the facility is expected the have a significant effect on the UK economy and is classed as a National Capability owing to its strategic importance for UK research. NARF is …
