Welsh badger vaccination project: progress so far

A REPORT on the first year of the badger vaccination project being undertaken by the Welsh Government as part of the bovine TB eradication programme in Wales has indicated that 1424 badgers were trapped and vaccinated in field operations between May and November 2012.

John Griffiths, the Welsh environment minister, announced in March last year that badger culling would not form part of the measures used to eradicate bovine TB from Wales and that a programme of badger vaccination would be introduced instead (VR, March 24, 2012, vol 170, pp 297-298).
