JUDGING from the AHVLA's consultation on scanning surveillance (VR, December 22/29, 2012, vol 171, pp 634-635) and letters in Veterinary Record discussing the situation regarding Schmallenberg virus (SBV) (VR, December 22/29, 2012, vol 171, pp 651-652), it seems that Great Britain currently lacks an authoritative approach to disease surveillance and investigation.
