Pat Hartigan and James Armour write: Robert Lee, who recently died aged 91, was born in Dublin, the son of a pharmacist who came from Scottish farming stock and was a relation of the late RCVS President, Professor Sir William Lee Weipers.
Schooled in Dublin, Rob entered the Veterinary College of Ireland in 1939, graduating MRCVS in 1943 after a distinguished undergraduate career. Veterinary education in Ireland at that time was under the aegis of the RCVS in London, in terms of course content and examination. Encouraged by one of his final-year examiners, he applied to the British Colonial Veterinary Services, and the Colonial Office sent him to Cambridge for postgraduate tuition …
