Collaboration key to improving livestock productivity in Africa
ALTHOUGH livestock are fundamental to agricultural development in Africa, the sector suffers from a number of problems that are inhibiting its productivity.
So says the Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines (GALVmed) in an ‘Impetus strategy paper’ presented at a recent meeting in Nairobi. The paper by the Edinburgh-based charity argues that the livestock sector in sub-Saharan Africa is underperforming, with a lack of investment and no focused approach.
