‘Communication gap’ on backyard chickens

RESEARCH by the Royal Veterinary College has suggested that keepers of ‘backyard’ chickens in the Greater London area provide good living conditions for their birds, but have a limited awareness of serious poultry and zoonotic diseases and that disease prevention methods such as vaccination and biosecurity are rarely used.
