THE two pilot badger culls that were planned to start in west Somerset and west Gloucestershire this autumn have been postponed until 2013.
In a statement to the House of Commons on October 23, Owen Paterson, Secretary of State at Defra, reported that he had received a letter from the president of the National Farmers' Union on behalf of the companies that were to coordinate the culls saying that they did not feel they could proceed this year and requesting that the culls be postponed until next summer.
