Vets asked to help with surveillance for equine influenza

VETS are being encouraged to swab more horses showing signs of infectious respiratory disease to help improve surveillance for equine influenza.

Richard Newton, head of epidemiology and disease surveillance, and Debra Elton, head of virology, at the Animal Health Trust, run a surveillance scheme for the disease, which is funded by the Horserace Betting Levy Board.
