Defra announces locations of pilot badger culls

Statistics from

TWO areas – one in west Gloucestershire and one in west Somerset – have been selected by Defra as the locations for a pilot cull of badgers this autumn. Groups of farmers and landowners in these two areas, which were chosen from a shortlist proposed by the farming industry, are now able to apply for licences to shoot badgers as part of the pilot to assess whether controlled shooting is an effective, safe and humane method of culling.
