IN a further tribute to John Francis McKenna, Pauline Tolhurst writes: It was with great sadness that I read of the death of John McKenna via Bridget Taylor's excellent tribute to him in Veterinary Record (VR, March 24, 2011, vol 170, pp 315–316).

I had the pleasure of working for John in the early 1990s. It was apparent immediately, on arriving at the hanging basket-clad, magnificent Victorian building, that Pegasus House was no ordinary veterinary practice.
