I WAS lucky enough as a vet student to be taught embryology by the late James Bee. Jim used to arrive in the lecture theatre armed with an enormous box full of coloured chalks, and proceed to draw the most amazing illustrations of embryonic development that made perfect sense at the time, but which I never managed to reproduce satisfactorily thereafter.
