‘No excuse’ for delaying use of new toxicity test, says RSPCA

THE RSPCA is urging companies that undertake reproductive toxicity testing of chemical preparations such as pesticides and industrial chemicals to start using a newly developed test, which it says will save millions of animals' lives.

To comply with legislation such as the Biocidal Products Regulations and the EU's Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) regulation, which came into force in July 2007, chemical-producing companies are obliged to test their products to ensure their safety.
