Bluetongue virus ‘assembly kit’ offers hope for improved vaccines
RESEARCH that could pave the way for the production of better vaccines against bluetongue has recently been published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
Funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), researchers at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine synthesised each part of the bluetongue virus's gene and protein blocks separately and then combined them in the right order to produce a functional virus particle.
