IN tribute to Lovell Robert Thomsett (VR, November 26, 2011, vol 169, p 588), David Lloyd, David Noakes, Keith Thoday, David Shearer and David Grant write: Lovell Robert Thomsett died, aged 90, on November 7 after a short illness. ‘Tommy’, as he was known to his students and veterinary colleagues, contributed much to his profession through his life, as a teacher, clinician, mentor and friend.
Tommy was one of the sadly declining number who embarked upon their veterinary education before the outbreak of the Second World War. He entered the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in September 1939; however, the call ‘to arms’ persuaded him, as it did others, to forgo his education and volunteer to serve his country. He enrolled …
