ON October 25, Edward (Edwin) Conn, CBE, FRCVS, of 23 The Brae, Groomsport, County Down. Mr Conn qualified from Edinburgh in 1940.

E. W. Sullivan writes: Edwin Conn was born on March 25, 1918. He was the third son of a family of four boys born to Edward and Bessie Conn. Edward Conn was a farmer, and shortly after Edwin's birth the family moved to Drumslade, near Coleraine. It was on this farm that Edwin, who was christened Edward but called Edwin to distinguish him from his father, spent his boyhood years.

He attended Coleraine Model School and at the age of 13 transferred to Coleraine Academical Institution (CAI). He was very interested in sporting activities: he played for the First XV rugby team and the First XI cricket team and was CAI's athletics …
