IN a further tribute to William Fleming Hoggan Jarrett (VR, October 29, 2011, vol 169, pp 474–475), Bruce Vivash Jones writes: I was fortunate to have known Bill Jarrett very well for a period some 50 years ago, in the earlier days of his career. We worked together in a collaborative venture involving the innovative immunisation technology, utilising gamma irradiation as an attenuating agent, that the Glasgow multidisciplinary team (led by Bill Jarrett and Ian McIntyre) had developed. This created the first effective nematode vaccine, based on third-stage Dictyocaulus viviparus larvae.
