Changes to the FEI's prohibited substance list

The Fédération Equestre Internationale has made some changes to its list of prohibited substances. The changes, which will come into effect on January 1, 2012, are the addition of magnesium sulphate injections to the controlled medication category and any use of adrenocorticotrophic hormone to the banned substances list; the naming of 17-alpha-hydroxy progesterone on the list given its similar biological effects to substances already on the list; and the moving of valerenic acid from the banned substance category to the controlled medications category.
