THE Kennel Club Genetics Centre (KCGC) has issued a mid-term report in which it highlights the progress it has made in helping dog breeders to reduce the incidence of inherited diseases in their breeds.
Since it was established in March 2009 through collaboration between the Kennel Club and the Animal Health Trust (VR, July 25, 2009, vol 165, p 95), the KCGC has developed and made available a number of tools that allow breeders to minimise the risk of breeding affected puppies.
