The following information has been produced for Veterinary Record by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) to provide an update for veterinary surgeons on recent changes to marketing authorisations for veterinary medicines in the UK.

THE points below highlight changes in marketing authorisations that may have a significant impact on veterinary surgeons' prescribing decisions.

New marketing authorisations

The following new marketing authorisations have been approved during February 2011. There were no new products authorised in this period containing active substances not previously included in authorised veterinary medicinal products in the UK.

  • Alverin Plus solution for injection for cattle.

  • Butomidor 10 mg/ml solution for injection for horses, dogs and cats.

  • Chloromed 150 mg/g oral powder for pigs.

  • Chloromed 150 mg/g premix for medicated feeding stuff for pigs.

  • Detonervin 10 mg/ml solution for injection for horses and cattle.

  • Fiprospot 134 mg spot-on solution for medium dogs.

  • Fiprospot 268 mg spot-on solution for large dogs.

  • Fiprospot 402 mg spot-on solution for very large dogs.

  • Fiprospot 50 mg spot-on solution for cats.

  • Fiprospot 67 mg spot-on solution for small dogs.

  • Hiprabovis IBR marker live.

  • Rheumocam 15 mg/ml oral suspension for horses.

  • Z-Itch 40 mg/ml pour-on solution.
