I REFER to the letters about gender distribution in the veterinary profession (VR, May 28, 2011, vol 168, p 570; June 4, 2011, vol 168, pp 593–594). As one of many individuals involved in veterinary admissions at Cambridge veterinary school, I have sympathy with the sentiments expressed by your correspondents.
