TO adequately describe the military use of equids from the Boer War to the present day could well require many volumes, and yet in this, her latest book, Ann Hyland gives a coherent account, which will be appreciated by specialists and general readers alike. Correctly, she gives a detailed description of the veterinary aspects prevailing at the start of the Boer War in 1899.
