Update on possible vaccine link to bleeding calf syndrome

PFIZER Animal Health has written to veterinary practices in the UK to update them on the latest research regarding bovine neonatal pancytopenia (BNP), or bleeding calf syndrome, and the use of PregSure BVD, its vaccine against bovine viral diarrhoea.

Sales of PregSure BVD were voluntarily suspended by Pfizer in all EU markets in June 2010 as a precautionary measure while the company investigated the nature and possible causes of BNP (VR, June 19, 2010, vol 166, p 770).
