The challenges of animal health and welfare relief work in disaster situations will be discussed at this year's BVA Congress in September. As part of the build up to the congress, the Ministry of Defence Military Operations Unit has allowed the BVA to reveal how Army vets are providing veterinary care and animal husbandry advice to villagers in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

THE Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC) is a small, technical support corps that gives advice on how to get the best out of service animals to ensure that they are used to their full potential. It is also a specialist division of the BVA.
