MORE work is needed before new legislation to govern dog breeding in Wales can be introduced, the Welsh rural affairs minister, Elin Jones, has announced.
The Welsh Assembly Government consulted last year on proposed legislation that would have introduced major changes to the dog breeding and licensing regimes in Wales and was intended to help tackle poor practice in some dog breeding establishments or ‘puppy farms’ (VR, October 30, 2010, vol 167, p 673).
