A REVIEW of how information on disease spread is gathered and monitored in Scotland has been commissioned by the Scottish Government.

In November last year, the Scottish minister for rural affairs, Richard Lochhead, said that an independent chairman was being recruited for a review of the veterinary surveillance network in Scotland (VR, November 28, 2009, vol 165, p 643). On January 26, it was announced that John Kinnaird, a former president of NFU Scotland, had been appointed to chair the review panel.
