Who owns disease?

Abstract

The question of who is responsible for the diagnosis and control of disease was up for discussion at a one-day symposium to mark the retirement of Professor Joe Brownlie from the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) recently, after more than 40 years of research. Called ‘Who owns disease’, the symposium brought together leading scientists and stakeholders in the hope that it would encourage debate and lead to future guidance on the ownership of medical, veterinary and zoonotic diseases.
