‘One health’ high on the agenda at the FVE general assembly

Abstract

‘One health’ — the concept that animal and public health cannot be seen independently — was high on the agenda of the general assembly of the Federation of Veterinarians of Europe (fve), held in Vienna on June 6 and 7. Other topics discussed included the new Community Animal Health Strategy, animal welfare, veterinary education and veterinary professional matters, including a definition of the ‘veterinary act’ and a code of conduct for veterinarians. A meeting of the Union of European Veterinary Practitioners, which preceded the fve assembly, included discussion of biosecurity, companion animals and veterinary medicines
