EQUINE DISEASE SURVEILLANCE
Equine disease surveillance, October to December 2005

Abstract

  • Equine influenza jumping the equine/canine species barrier

  • Equine infection with West Nile virus

– These are among matters discussed in the quarterly equine disease surveillance report for October to December 2005, prepared by DEFRA, the Animal Health Trust and the British Equine Veterinary Association

    Statistics from Altmetric.com

      Footnotes

      • • This report collates equine disease data arising from multiple diagnostic laboratories and veterinary practices throughout the UK, giving an insight into equine disease occurrence on a national scale. The data presented, which are taken from various sources (see Acknowledgements), must be interpreted with caution, as there is likely to be some bias in the way that samples are submitted for laboratory testing. For example, they are influenced by factors such as owner attitude or financial constraints, or are being submitted for routine screening as well as clinical investigation purposes. Consequently, these data do not necessarily reflect true disease frequency in the UK equine population
